CLERMONT GPA STATUS UPDATE - ALL OPEN

Friday 12.04.19 QPWS Advice:

Please note all Clermont State Forest General Permission Areas (GPAs) are open for the start of the season. After the recent heavy rainfall there are still some wet areas and visitors are advised to stick to the strategic track network and avoid these area's to prevent damage to roads and risk of getting bogged.

The McMaster’s Dam bywash is still soft but not boggy.

We advise that the McMasters GPA is best accessed via Birimgan GPA until it dries completely

Please assist us by:
- complying with any signage in the Fossicking Areas.
- checking with local Clermont outlets regarding closures
- referring to the online website for further details in relation to fossicking https://www.qld.gov.au/recreation/activities/areas-facilities/fossicking/central-gold

Thank you

Advice re closure of Bottom Apsley GPA 01.03.19

QPWS advice: "There is no impediment in the Fossicking Act 1994 for an owner to withdraw permission for fossicking to occur and from the 01 March 2018 general permission to allow fossicking with the Bottom Apsley GPA has been withdrawn. Subsequently the Bottom Apsley GPA within the Blair Athol State Forest is permanently closed. This means that fossicking is not permitted but it does not restrict access to the State forest for other appropriate recreational purposes."

Please complete our GPA Awareness Survey to provide feedback to local Council and government departments and support our efforts to increase access to Clermont's State Forests for recreational prospectors.
