From the very beginning it was a Dream...a dream of freedom, adventure, history and maybe even wealth. It all began over 20 years ago, in the remote Palmer River goldfield of Far North Queensland, Australia. And it went something like this...
June 1988...
… a young man alone with his new detector studies a smooth, white, pyramid-shaped rock. A glint atop it catches his eye. “It’s GOLD…. GOLD!” he shouts, laughing out loud. But only the ghosts of the Palmer River share his jubilation.
‘We’ve got another one’ they chuckle, ‘the Fever’s got him, good and proper’...and the man wanders off across the gully, waving that magic wand, dreaming of the future and treasures beyond his wildest imaginings…
Five years later, Jonathan Porter decided to turn his passion into his livelihood and since then, he and his wife Frieda have travelled extensively throughout the goldfields of Australia, finding thousands of nuggets along the way and passing on advice to the many new chums encountered in The Great Outback.
